Meenakshi to join Inaugural IVA Panel

ETASHA founder and President, Dr Meenakshi Nayar has been asked to join the Delhi Judging Panel for the inaugural India Volunteer Awards.

IVA aims to identify champions in volunteering in India, recognize volunteers and organizations engaged in Volunteering, raise awareness around Volunteering , celebrate and promote this much needed effort and drive Volunteering as a mainstream interest in India.

India Volunteer Awards (IVA) is an annual award and 2011 is its debut year. The Awards are being run in partnership with iVolunteer, an organisation that has been working to promote volunteering in India since 2001 as well as International Business Leaders Forum, UK and have been created by Apeejay Surrendra Group, a 100 year old business house.

The Awards were launched on Republic Day Jan 26’ 2011, with the applications being accepted online on the IVA website and by post. In the next 60-90 days IVA partner teams will span out in the four regions in India to scout for those Individuals and Organisations who can be future role models in Volunteering that India needs. The winners chosen by a Jury will be felicitated at an Awards function in New Delhi telecast by a leading national news channel on Independence Day, August 15, 2011.

ETASHA’s volunteers provide a rich source of experience to our work with under served communities and we are constantly looking to expand our network of volunteers, who teach, research, consult and fundraise for us.

If you are interested in devoting some of your time and experience to helping disadvantaged young people into work, do get in touch. Our volunteers have found it a stimulatine and rewarding experience.
