A letter from ‘Hope- A start’

“When I look at the life of people around me, I get an overwhelming feeling of how privileged I have been since childhood.  What  I  am today is as much a  result of my skills as that of the comfort bestowed on me. My income cannot be, and should not be, just mine. It needs to be shared with my community-the people who haven’t been as privileged as I have been. Some of these people have also been silent building blocks for my success; sometimes as my domestic help,  sometimes as a petty trader or sometimes doing menial tasks for me.

24 years of life have gone by. It is about the time to return the favour. It is about the time to create a difference in the world- be it in any form.  My lifelong vision is to create a big dent in the universe, but that shall take Time. Till I achieve that, it is my heartfelt desire to start donating a chunk of my income for a social cause of my own choice.”

With this idea, nine of us from BIT Mesra got together to brainstorm. Eventually, we, Shakti Avasthy(New Delhi),  Piyush  Mishra (Bangalore),  Ayush  Srivastava(New Delhi), Ankit  Munka(Hazaribagh),  Rakesh Singh(Pune), Vipul Singh (Allahabad) Anish Agarwal (Bangalore), Anurag Nandkeolyar (Bangalore) and Sumit Agarwal (Bangalore) started a group called ‘Hope-A start’ on 15th  August, 2015 on a trial basis. With small savings from our incomes, we are trying to impact several lives directly and many others indirectly. More than the numerical output, the sense of self-satisfaction obtained every month is inexpressible in words or numbers.
Though the amount of  INR  8000-9000 sometimes proves to be insignificant for several organisations, we take pride in the fact that we have started changing the world,  single step at a time. 🙂

  1. Hello there! This post couldn’t be written any better!
Looking through this post reminds me of my previous roommate!
He always kept talking about this. I most certainly will forward this article to him.
Fairly certain he’ll have a great read. Thanks for sharing!
